Although photography has long since lost the status of an entirely objective display medium, yet it is still perceived as such, especially in its scientific position, such as the documentation of architecture and monuments. The task of a photographer documenting artworks is to maximally eliminate the “parasitic” elements creeping into the photographs and intrusively drawing the captured objects from neutral timelessness back into our reality. Contrary to the intention of the photographer, images often capture forgotten or indelible details that can strongly attack our perception and add multiple meanings to the image. The exhibition presents documentation photographs from the 1970s to 1990s of the 20th century from the collection of the Institute of Art History, The Czech Academy of Sciences that emerge from timelessness through those details and testify to the time they unwillingly represent.

The Fotograf Festival is organised by the Fotograf 07 z.s., and held under the auspices of the Mayor of Prague, and with the support of the City Council of Prague (400 000 CZK), the Czech Ministry of Culture and State Fund of Culture.
